Dear Home Church Community,
Meet Flat Steward! Flat Steward was inspired by Jeff Brown’s beloved literary character, Flat Stanley. In the books, a boy named Stanley is flattened by a bulletin board and thus able to go places other children cannot as he slips under doors, becomes a kite, and gets mailed all over the world.
Flat Steward gets to go all kinds of places as well, as we use the time, talent, and treasure God has entrusted to us for God’s work in the world.
First, cut it out. You can attach it to the popsicle stick or leave it as is. Then, take Flat Steward with you and take a photograph of him/her during your next act of stewardship. Perhaps you’ll be:
- helping at Wachovia Garden
- singing in the choir
- dropping off school supplies
- taking dinner to someone who is recovering from surgery
- trimming candles
- worshipping
- donating blood
- picking up trash off a walkway….the list could go on and on!
After you photograph your Flat Steward in action, please email the picture(s) to
Sarah Katona ([email protected]). Be sure to include your name and a description of what your Flat Steward is up to! The Stewardship Committee will work with Sarah to share Flat Steward with everyone through the church website, social media, during worship, and more. If you need additional Flat Stewards for yourself or your family, contact the church office.
Stewards are everywhere, and we look forward to seeing our church community’s stewardship through the adventures of Flat Steward over the months ahead!
