Fulfilling Christ's call to love God, live in community, and serve our neighbor

Dare to be Generous

It’s always inspiring to think about the many, many ways this congregation is generous in giving its time, talent and treasure in the service of Jesus Christ. Sometimes it can be a little scary to practice generosity.

We don’t always know how our offerings will be welcomed—what if our gifts don’t match a need? What if we can’t do what we thought we could, can’t measure up somehow?

It helps to remember what Paul says in his letter to the Philippians: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” With that kind of assurance, we can dare to be generous; and through generosity we will deepen our faith and find more and more assurance in the providence of God.

This year’s Stewardship theme is Dare to be Generous. Throughout the summer and into the fall, you’ll hear members talking about this theme. How are we generous with our time? How do we generously share our gifts? How are we generous with our financial resources? What’s it like to take the dare? How has practicing generosity with time, talent, and treasure brought unexpected blessing to their lives?

To encourage each other to dare to be generous, there are TAKE THE DARE badges available for anyone who wants one. Wear a badge when you are volunteering to inspire others to share their gifts—even when that involves trying new things that may at first feel uncomfortable.

Badges are available during the week in the Church Office and at Sunday Worship in the vestibule.
